Anti-Corruption Measures to be Settled

The Second Nation Foundation Committee on January 13 announced its anti-corruption plans including strict punishments for corrupt officials and the formation of a special investigative body.
Corrupt government officials cannot be pardoned and reinstated to permanent positions according to the basic plans. They will incur limitations on promotions and job transfers as well.
Prosecutors, police and audit bureau members will have their conduct and behavior disclosed to the press while an anti-corruption committee will monitor their action and investigate any complaints.
The committee will conduct an open hearing on January 14 and will outline a concrete project to President Kim Dae Jung later this month.
