Government Team to Solve Y2K Problem

The government will form a team charged with solving the Y2K problem. The team will report any progress at ministerial meetings every month.
Prime Minister Kim Jong Pil convened a meeting on January 14 and proposed a special team to tackle the potentially-debilitating problem.
The government made an additional check list for possible national hazards including environmental, passenger security on planes and trains right down to water resources the Y2K could affect.
The government will form the 'Small and Medium Companies Office' to coordinate the activities of small and medium-sized companies in solving any computer glitches as well as recommend funding to support these activities.
Meanwhile, the government will monitor 453 ships whose computers could possibly malfunction and cause major accidents.
