Warning of Another Fall in Economy

Amidst the general perception that the economy is at least on the road to recovery a warning was issued that the Korean economy is not out of the woods yet, another fall in the second half of this year is a distinct possibility.
The Hyundai Economic Institute, casting itself as a modern-day Cassandra, stated, 'After the first and second oil crisis in the 1970s, the economy fell into a recession followed by a short period of recovery only to sink down again. Recently, the Korean economy has improved rapidly but this is in reaction to the economy's free-fall right after the foreign exchange crisis in late 1997.'
This institute judges that consumption and investment do not seem to be recovering as briskly and there are still a lot of negative factors including the exchange crises in Russia, Latin America, and China and the slowed growth of the world economy including the U.S.
