Fisheries Agreement between Japan and Korea in Effect

A new fisheries agreement between Japan and Korea came into effect on January 22 but the two countries failed to agree on conditions in the 'Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ)'.
This resulted in the termination of all fishing in the EEZ by both sides. Hong Sun Yong, minister of foreign affairs and trade and Ogura Kazuo, the Japanese ambassador to Korea ratified the agreement.
The new agreement is supposed to come into effect on the day in which it is ratified; however, the two sides failed to agree on conditions of fishing in the EEZ. So, both sides have prohibited fishing in the EEZ by the other side.
The government ordered 336 Korean fishing ships working inside the Japanese EEZ to move out. But, three Korean captains were arrested by the Japanese government.
