Two Leaders Meeting Might be Arranged

A settlement to the political deadlock that has plagued the nation may be forthcoming: a proposed summit meeting between President Kim Dae Jung and the opposition leader, Lee Hoi Chang, is gaining momentum.
The ruling National Congress for New Politics(NCNP)is now seriously scrutinizing the pros and cons of a meeting. President Kim is personally known to be quite positive about meeting Lee.
The opposition Grand National Party(GNP) is requesting, in advance, an apology from the NCNP for using the National Intelligence Service(NIS), formerly called the KCIA, to conduct politically-motivated investigations against the GNP.
Park Ji Won, spokesperson at the Blue House(Chong Wa Dae), told reporters on January 25, 'Prior to a summit meeting, there should be a change in atmosphere, a political readjustment, if fruitful discussion can occur. Furthermore, there is no need for President Kim to apologize for alleged NIS wrongdoings.'
The two sides will have their floor leaders consult representatives at the National Assembly and will draw up details for the meeting.
