Employees at LG Semiconductors Hold Protest Rally
More than 7,000 employees of LG Semiconductors held a protest rally at Riverside Park in Youido, Seoul on January 28. (photo)The participants declared that 'The decision to merge businesses in the semiconductor industry was made by politically-motivated interests. All employees will strongly resist the decision by resigning en masse. We strongly urge the measure be nullified.'
Protestors also emphasized, 'It is a meaningless suggestion that Hyundai has promised to hire all of LG's employees because great differences exist between LG and Hyundai's corporate cultures. After the merger, highly-skilled manpower will be drained as workers will have no choice but to go overseas.'
They added that development and marketing departments should be integrated first and production department should be merged after that.
