Foreign Companies Positive on Investing in Korea

Half of the foreign companies recently surveyed by the Korea Trade Investment Promotion Agency(KOTRA) plan to invest in Korea. Additionally, many companies view that the current restructuring efforts by Korean companies will improve the investment environment.
However, they feel negatively about opaque accounting systems and the uncooperative attitude of labor unions.
On January 31, KOTRA released the results of its survey of 178 foreign companies from 20 countries on their intention to invest into Korea.
Among them, 53 percent answered, 'plan to invest in Korea' and 74 percent said, 'Korea is attractive for investment'.
Regarding restructuring moves by Korean companies, they answered, 'It will improve the investment environment.'
They evaluated Korea's growth potential very high (58 percent) but negatively viewed the stability of several financial indicators including interest rates and foreign currency exchange rates.
