"Leering" Will Not Be Judged as Sexual Harassment
The controversial 'overtly-sexual look' clause in the recently-proposed sexual harassment regulations will probably not be included in the final version. The Ministry of Labor(MOL) ruled out including 'suggestive or lascivious looks' from a listing of proposed sexual harassment regulations in a report brought to the Working Woman's Committee on February 2.The MOL decided to drop the measure because it feels the terminology is too subjective. A source at the MOL said, 'The terminology of 'overtly-sexual look' is too subjective and open to a variety of interpretations; it is impossible to determine a person's intention from a look, so we ruled it out.'
However, women's rights groups are expected to strongly resist the measure. The MOL stipulated a number of specific examples of sexual harassment in their report.
