An American Success

Kang Chan Su, the new president of Seoul Securities, faced a difficult time in 1975. Three robbers burst into his father's grocery store and threatened to kill him unless he gave them money. Although he complied that time he learned a few things about money.
The small boy grew up to become a three-million-dollar a year salary earner. Kang remembered the robbery as 'the incident which changed my life'.
His family immigrated to the U.S. in 1971 because his elder brother was accepted at the Juliard Music School.
Kang studied very hard after the robbery and eventually entered Harvard University where he majored in economics. His first job was as an economic analyst in an investment company on Wall Street.
On January 4, the George Soros Management Fund contacted him. It was seeking a new president of Seoul Securities. There was no gun pointed in his face when he accepted the offer.
He confidently said, 'Seoul Securities is a very good company and the Korean market is attractive. It has unlimited growth potential.'
