Security Companies Reaped $Bil. Profit in 1998"s 4th Quarter
Domestic security companies marked a billion-dollar surplus from October to December in 1998.According to the Financial Supervisory Committee(FSC), on February 4, 31 national security companies made 1 billion dollars in profit during the fourth quarter of last year as Korea started to climb out of its lengthy economic recession.
Daewoo Securities topped the list with a profit of 110 million dollars from April through December 1998 followed by Samsung and Dongwon.
Twenty four foreign security companies' Korean branches also enjoyed a profit of 120 million dollars last year, which was three times greater than the same period of 1997.
