Improved Contract Conditions For Clients

The current contract law which is one-sidedly disadvantageous to clients will be changed significantly.
The Korea Lawyers' Association on February 8 announced that it would create a new contract article conceding their long time previlege.
It will announce the new act under secretary general Kim Pyong-woo's advocacy in the first half of this year.
According to the new act, deposit money will be able to be returned to clients in case of fault on the part of lawyers.
Moreover, the client can cancel the case if they are not satisfied with how the case is being handled.
Payments to lawyers will also be fixed not by the number of cases now, but by the hour.
Kim said, 'Recent contract conditions have been cited as an example by clients and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in how the current system may lead to corruption like the recent revelations dealing with the judicial scandals this year. It is their intent to stop these wrongdoings.'
