Kim Yong Sam Ignores Summons To Appear At Hearings
Hearings into the economic crisis were without former President Kim Young Sam today. Kim rejected a summons to attend the hearings. Thus many representatives from the ruling coalition competitively denounced the former president. Rep. Eu Jun Son of the United Liberal Democrats (ULD) said, 'Although Kia was almost bankrupt, the former president did not grasp the gravity of the situation at the time. Kim should apologize to the people at these hearings about his failure in policy.'
As representatives' denouncement continued, Jang Jae Shik, chairman of the special committee on the economic crisis said, 'We had better halt the committee for a while and go to the former president's home to persuade him to attend the hearings.'
However, the committee concluded that it was meaningless to visit Kim's home during his absence and dismissed the meeting.
