The government will hold an international forum with the World Bank (International Bank for Reconstruction and Development) at Lotte Hotel in Seoul on the coming 26th and 27th, which will coincide with the one-year anniversary of President Kim Dae Jung's inaugration.
The forum, the main thesis of which is 'Democracy and Market Economy', will be composed of a leaders' conference that will include President Kim, James Ulpernson, president of the IBRD, ex-prime minister of Japan, Yasuhiro Nakasone; an experts' conference; and a seminar in which respresentatives of NGOs (Non-Government organizations) will take part.
A source at the Ministry of Finance and Economy(MOFE) said, 'More than 1,000 people will participate in the forum. The forum can be a good opportunity to herald Korea's strong will to overcome the current economic crisis to the world.'
The cost for the forum will be shouldered by the Korean government, whose share could reach as high as 960 million won, and the World Bank with 450 million won.
