Law for Wartime Labor Mobilization Abolished

The law for the mobilization of labor during wartime, established in the midst of the Korean War, was abolished in February, 46 years after its enactment.
The law's main points allowed the government to forcibly mobilize the nation's laborers and manpower as well as citizens' private property in the event of war.
A government source stated, 'Because other laws for wartime mobilization have been established and are in effect, including the establishment of a mandatory period of service in the civil defence force, the government viewed that the law was not needed.'
He added that the law's abolishment will not likely meet any opposition or future problems.
