Improvement Plan for Fishing and Agrarian Villages Completely Spoiled

It has been revealed that the highly-vaunted, 42-trillion-won improvement plan for fishing and agrarian villages is a complete failure.
The government plan to develop and improve fishing and agro businesses in rural areas turned out to be a total disaster, because a large chunk of the investment money has been spent without any fruitful results. Some funds were lent to people totally unrelated to agriculture or fishing.
The Board of Audit and Inspection(BAI) conducted a special audit on 22 improvement projects in four provinces for three months, from August to November of last year. The projects had directly received 10.5 trillion won of support which went to individual farmers and large groups of producers.
As a result, it announced that it unearthed 162 cases of improper uses of improvement money. The BAI has requested that 49 local government officials related to the projects be punished.
It is especially shocking that the funds, which were earmarked for agricultural development and full-time farmers, went elsewhere. Recipients who received tens of millions of won are running singing bars or coffee shops.
