BOK Union Files Protest Over MOFE"s Budget Cut
The labor union of the Bank of Korea(BOK) is protesting the Ministry of Finance and Economy's decision to curtail 20 percent of the BOK's budget in 1999. The union filed a lawsuit against the Ministry at the Seoul Administration Court in the hopes that the budget cut will be cancelled.The union stated in its petition, 'It is an obvious violation of the law to allow the Ministry of Finance and Economy to express its opinion on the approval or non-approval of the contents of the BOK's budget, and then to subsequently order a curtailment of the budget.
The ongoing battle between the Ministry and the BOK will now enter the court system.
