Worst Ever Operating Records for Listed Companies

The operating records of listed companies on the Korea Stock Exchange(KSE) recorded their worst ever performance last year.
According to KSE results of its analysis of year-end reports of 459 companies among the 587 listed companies, total revenue increased by 14.7 percent for 1998 to 475.765 trillion won.
Although company revenues increased, their net losses jumped by as much 285 percent to 12.1464 trillion.
In particular, 18 financial companies including banks recorded losses of 11.8196 trillion won, 97.3 percent of the total loss recorded.
Manufacturing companies recorded 423 trillion won in revenues and had losses of 326.8 billion won.
This is equal to losses of 7 won per 10,000 won in revenue.
