Rainbows Have Disappeared in Seoul

There is a high posssiblity that Seoul citizens will be unable to see rainbows again.
A source at the Korea Meteorological Administration said on March 19, 'Unfortunately our organization has not observed a rainbow above Seoul for the past three years and five months.' The last time a rainbow was observed was 0ctober 5, 1995.
He explained the reason they have failed to observe a rainbow is because of the heavy smog covering the city of Seoul.
Scientists say that we can see a rainbow when the sun's rays in the opposite side of the sky are reflected through water droplets in the air, during a rain shower, but when the atmosphere contains a lot of smog the colorful prism effect is retarded.
Meteorological professor Lim Kyu Ho at Seoul National University said, 'When waterdrops in the air become bigger, a rainbow can be seen more clearly. On the contrary, waterdrops are getting smaller and smaller as air pollution becomes worse.'
