Foreign Nationals Married to Korean Women to Receive Extended Visas

Men of foreign nationality who are married to Korean women can stay in Korea for renewable one-year periods.
The Ministry of Justice(MOJ) announced, on March 21, that it revised regulations for foreigners' sojourns in Korea. Commencing March 22, it will issue visas that permit husbands who do not have Korean citizenship to stay up to one year.
Presently, they are only allowed to stay in Korea for three months. In addition, MOJ has made it possible for husbands of foreign nationality to extend their stays each year without leaving the country.
However, the MOJ decided to restrict the stays of husbands who actually do not live with their Korean wives to three months in order to prevent marriages of convenience.
