Y2K Test for Banks Succeeds For the First Time

The first stage of testing for this latest Y2K fix has succeeded for the first time in Korea, the Bank of Korea (BOK) announced on March 24.
A source at the BOK explained, ' All banks and the Financial Settlement Institute (FSI) made a test work for banks toward the probable Y2K problem on March 21 and all transactions were made normally.'
BOK announced that they will conduct the second stage testing in the near future. Bank officials are confident that the second round of testing will be equally successful. In the first stage of testing, 35 companies and institutes including 23 banks, 2 foreign banks, 2 credit card companies and the Korea Credit Information participated.
