Domestic Manufactures Estimate Economic Recovery in Year"s Second Half

Domestic manufacturers estimate that the Korean economy will recover in the second half of this year.
The Bank of Korea (BOK) surveyed 1700 manufactures whose total yearly sales are more than 1.5 billion won. On March 26, it announced that according to its results, the Business Survey Index(BSI) in the second half of the year will exceed 100 for the first time in two years and nine months.
A BSI over 100 indicates that companies feel that a prosperous business climate exists while under 100 means poor expectations for profit.
According to the survey the manufacturing BSI will shoot up to 101 in the year's second half from its current 73. The BSI for large companies is predicted to rise to 111 from 75, and small and medium-sized companies' BSI will fall just short of 100, at 97, from 73.
Survey respondents estimated that the rate of operations' BSI will rise to at least 106 from 81. In the categories of medical instruments, shipbuilding and automobiles the BSI recorded 129, 114, and 101, respectively.
Whereas, publishing and the apparel industries are expected to face a continued slump as their BSIs were 78 and 79
