Millennium Marketing Rising

'Let's have a millennium-ending party twice.'
A special events company in Paris recently rang out this novel idea. It is proposing a party to end all parties at 12 o'clock midnight on December 31 in Paris, followed by an equally rousing affair in New York. By using the super-sonic Concord plane, customers can have two parties on the same day to herald in the next millennium.
It is not just a French fairy tale because in Korea the concept for a similar schedule, part of the 'Millennium Marketing', is booming.
Many local governments are adjusting details on a wide variety of events to send off the last day of the twentieth century.
For instance, Pusan, under the banner of 'A Glorious Meeting of a New Thousand Years in Pusan', is planning a cultural festival full of dancing and music, a sunrise ceremony at Haeundae Beach. Most hotels in Pusan are already booked solid for December 31, 1999 and New Year's Day 2000.
South Kyongsang Province is also planning a millennium cultural festival for the new year.
