Driver"s Licence Renewal Test Abolished from April 30

The general physical test, which includes both an eye and hearing examination, to renew a driver's licence will be abolished from April 30, and the renewal period for reissuing a driver's license will be extended to seven years from the current five years.
The same physical examiniation to renew special driver's licenses for those under the age of 65 will be extended from the current five to seven years.
The Regulatory Reform Commission announced, on March 29, that the government will substantially mitigate many related regulations and rules beginning in April, and introduce new traffic laws.
Accordingly, regular license holders can renew their licenses without a physical and not in person as they can send one of their family members instead.
These changes were enacted because many license holders pointed out that the time and money stemming from the formal eye and hearing tests is an inconvenience. At times, people have had their licences revoked simply because they did not take the test on time.
However, among regular license holders, habitual traffic law offenders and those who have suffered a disability will still have to take the physical exam.
