Press Still Under Control of the Cultural Department
The government on March 30 decided to maintain the administrative power on publication, press and broadcasting under control of the Ministry of Culture, not shifting to the newly created Ministry of Public Relations.The public is suspicious of any new government agency fearing a return to the oppressive investigations of the past. The government in turn is trying to quell the publics fears. The Blue House(Chong Wa Dae) spokesperson Park Ji Won said, 'We do not want to raise any suspect from the public. There will be no change of administrative part on press.'
The newly revived Public Relations Ministry will hopefully remain focused on genuine publicity funtions of the government.
