Famous Singer Illegally Evades Military Service

Seoul District Prosecutor's Office (SDPO) released on March 30 the father of Kim Won Jun, a famous Korean singer, after being charged with bribing an official. Mr. Kim paid a bribe to have his son discharged from military service.
Seoul District Prosecutor's Office stated that it is going to notify the Office of Military Manpower Administration (OMMA) and order the singer, staying in U.S. at present, to retake a physical examination.
According to SDPO, it was confirmed that the singer's father had offered 10 million won to an OMMA official who then had his son discharged from military service. The rare medical condition claimed that the young man frequently dislocated his shoulder.A source from SDPO said that it decided not to detain the father because X-rays confirmed that he had suffered at least a partial separation.
He added that the amount of money the singer's father had given did not reach the detention level.
