British Companies Hoping to Cash In on Queen"s Visit

British companies operating in Korea are busier than ever because of Queen Elizabeth II's April 19 visit to Korea.
British-based companies are hoping the Queen's visit will bolster their efforts to strengthen their business operations in Korea and induce Korean-based companies to enlarge their investment in England, which has slowed to a trickle since the IMF bailout.
Korean department stores will take advantage of the Queen's visit by displaying British products in an effort to increase sales.
British-based companies in Korea number about 120, including British Airways, British Telecom, ING Bearings, and many companies are trying to increase their investment in Korea.
British Telecom invested 400 million dollars in LG Telecom, and Hong Kong Shanghai Banking Corporation(HSBC) took over one of Korea's domestic banks, Seoul Bank.
An official at the British Chamber of Commerce in Korea(BCCK) stated that many of the 50 regular members of the BCCK plan on strenghthening their advertisements and promotion on the occasion of the Queen's visit to Korea.
Mark Robinson, commercial attache at the British Embassy to Korea, said that many English companies are much more interested in investing into Korea and expanding economic cooperation between South Korea and England.
