Joint Security Area Film to be Produced

A new film about the Joint Security Area (JSA) of Panmunjom is the first to be produced in Korea.
Three Korean film production houses including Shincine, Woono and Myoung will jointly produce and distribute this film. It is result of a project named SUM by the group.
The film is based on the book 'DMZ' ,written by Park Sang Yun, published in 1997 by the Mineum Publishing company.
The film group invested a total of 1.7 billion won for the cost of the production which will focus on clashes between soldiers of the South and North Korea in the JSA.
Shim Jae Myoung, director of Myoung film asserted that the film will not dwell on outmoded anti communist dogma but will give an unbiased account of this Korean tragedy.
He added the group hopes to bring the two Koreas a little closer to aid in the reconciliation and cooperation of the two Koreas.
