Samsung Establishes Semicon Partner

Samsung Electronics established in partnership with Brooks Automation a subsidiary for developing semiconductor equipment.
Samsung's president, Lee Yoon Woo, and a representative of Brooks Automation signed an agreement to launch the 'Brooks Manufacturing Asia' (BMA) to pursue semiconductor equipment development.
Samsung has invested 1.5 million dollars into the new company, but Brooks Automation will hold the operating rights.
The new company will be developing cluster tools, which are currently being imported from abroad.
Samsung will propel the industry to unify under an international standard for 12-inch semiconductor wafers.
