Daewoo Economic Research Institute to Have 4 Owners

Daewoo Economic Research Institute(DWERI) will separate from Daewoo Group 15 years after its foundation, the company announced on April 14.
The operation of DWERI will change into a cooperative project involving the Daewoo, SK, Kumho Groups and one financial company.The financial company is expected to be an insurance firm.
The institute said that it changed the original plan to merge with Daewoo Securities Co. as a part of restructuring into initiating the separation from the Group and forming a cooperative with 4 companies holding a stake of 25 percent each.
Daewoo will apply to the Financial Supervisory Commission and the Fair Trade Commission for permission to separate after selling their stakes and selecting the ruling shareholders.
DWERI, founded in 1984, is a prominent Korean civil economic institute with capital of 8.5 billion won and 115 researchers including 16 PhDs.
