Business Sector Angrily Defects from Tripartite Committee

'Enough is enough.'
Following the Federation of Korean Trade Unions(FKTU) declaration of its intention to formally boycott the proceedings of the Tripartite Committee, the business sector beat them to the punch by withdrawing on April 16.
Now only the government still remains in the Committee, as labor had in reality all but officially departed some time ago. The relationship between labor and management is expected to be far from smooth in the coming months.
Cho Nam Hong, vice chairman of the Korea Employers Federation said at the Chosun Hotel, 'The business sector concluded that there is no reason left to remain in the Tripartite circle, so we settled to get out now.'
He continued, 'The government was only busy seducing the about-to-defect labor side, ignoring principles and the concessions business and management have made.'
The government wants to resume committee meetings next week through an extra session of the National Assembly, but there is a dim possibility of business returning to the table.
