Government to Tackle Head On Labor Unrest

The government and the ruling National Congress for New Politics(NCNP) decided to strongly tackle illegal strikes by labor unions across the nation according to a declaration on April 25.
The government and NCNP held an emergency meeting early this morning to address escalating strikes by national labor unions, especially the illegal strike of the Seoul Subway Labor Union(SSLU).
Kim Young Bae, acting NCNP president, and Jung Kyun Hwan, secretary general of the NCNP, finance and economy minister, Lee Kyu Sung, labor minister , Lee Ki Ho, and Seoul Mayor Koh Kun were in attendance.
Jung Dong Young, a NCNP spokesman, said that although the Seoul Subway Labor Union and Korean Confederation of Trade Unions(KCTU) are misguidedly calling for the government to stop the restructuring of the Seoul Subway Corporation and other companies, the government and NCNP will continue to focus on the recovery of the Korean economy.
The government and NCNP strongly requested the members of SSLU end their current strike and return to work.
