Korean Standard Digital TV Developed by LG

Korean standard digital TV, designated for domestic TV broadcasting from 2001, was introduced by LG Electronics.
LG held an unveiling ceremony on April 27 at the LG Twin Center, Yoido, and showed off it's new 64-inch digital TV.
The model name is HN-64A1 and its wide screen is equivalent to 4 32-inch color TV's with 5 times the resolution.
The sound is also digital equaling compact disc quality.
LG has combined 7.7 million dollars of development money with 80 researchers since January 1998 to create this new product.
It will be producing the new model from October at its factory in Kumi, North Kyongsang province.
Korea is supposed to start test broadcasting digital TV from this October and with full scale operations by early 2001.
Domestic consumption for digital TV is estimated to reach half a million units by 2005.
The United States and England already began digital broadcasting late last year.
