Wastes in Seoul is Decreasing

Wastes in Seoul is decreasing.
According to Seoul City Authorities, the daily average of waste produced in Seoul in 1998 amounted to 10,765 tons, down about 15 percent from 12,662 tons of 1997.
Accordingly, wastes which are transmitted onto landfills around the Metropolitan last year fell to 6,077 tons a day, down 22 percent from the previous year.
The recycled rate of total wastes increased to 38.1 percent, up 4.6 percent from 1997 while wastes collected for recycling averaged 3,580 tons in a day, down 10.9 percent from the previous year.
A source from Seoul City Authorities said that the fall of wastes produced in Seoul resulted from its active efforts to recycle wastes.
