Land Prices Rise Throughout the Country

The price of land, which had continuously dropped since the end of 1997, rose 0.35 percent on average in the first quarter this year.
This quarterly change is the biggest since the 0.43 percent of 1992's first quarter. So the hereafter change is remarkable.
The nation's seven biggest cities, including Seoul and Pusan, experienced a relatively small increase in land prices of 0.23 percent, while medium and small-sized cities, and provinces rose 0.41 percent and 0.74 percent each.
Land designated quasi-agricultural showed the highest hike of 0.97 percent followed by agricultural areas with a 0.84 percent rise. Residential areas' land prices increased 0.19 percent, industrial land rose 0.16 percent, while commercial zones went up a comparitively slight 0.03 percent.
Last month's 36.2 percent jump in building permits in industrial areas nationwide over the same period last year reflects the recovery of corporations' industrial investment.
