Former President Chun Denounces the Rise of Regional Bias

The former president Chun Doo Hwan, who began his tour to South Kyoungsang Province, criticized the regional bias recently fomented by politicians from the province.
He said that regional bias is hampering the reconcilation and developmmet of the nation.
The former president while attending a Buddhist mass for the reconciliation of the nation held by the Buddhists' Federation in Masan stated that politicians should first try to resolve any regional prejudice, even though such biases run deep in the mindset of some people.
The Bhuddist ceremony, attended by 4,000 people, was held in the Masan Gymnasium.
Chun will return to Seoul after delivering an address at Cheonbul Temple located in Pusan on May 9.
An entourage of 20 aides accompanied the former president including Jang Se Dong, the former head of the National Security Agency, Park Bong Sik, the former president of Seoul National University.
