Lee Will Run for National Assembly
Lee Hoi Chang, leader of the opposition Grand National Party(GNP), is rumored to run for the National Assembly seat in the by-election for Songpa district in Seoul, scheduled for June 3.He will officially announce his intention next week and declare it at the party rally on Yoido island.
A staff member close to Lee said on May 8, 'Party president Lee was seriously considering running, as lots of aids recommended he run for office and so he decided to throw his hat in the ring.'
Lee visited a charity center and told reporters, 'I'll let you know on Monday. I'm finalizing my plans at this point.' After consulting with his aids Lee will make his final announcement this week.
