Early Warning System For Computer Viruses to Be Introduced

An early warning system for computer viruses will be introduced in the near future.
Information and Communication Minister Namkung Seok reported to the cabinet meeting on Thuesday the ministry's general plan aiming at mitigating the disfunction of the information age cased by computer viruses or other undesirable intrusions.
The early warning system now under construction will warn the appearance of damaging computer viruses like the recent CIH virus which attacked the nation's information systems causing massive losses of data which resulted in enormous repair and recovery cost.
Minister Namkung said that the ministry is going to push a new bill to punish those who engage in the invasion of privacy, the distribution of porn materials and computer viruses via computer communication or the Internet.
Separately, the ministry will offer financial support to those who develop vaccines for computer viruses and technology for anti-hacking.
