Zip Code System Changes from August

The Domestic zip code system changes from August.
The Ministry of Information and Communication announced on May 11 that it decided to introduce a new zip code system beginning August.
According to the new zip code system, the latter 3 out of the current 6 number zip code will be classified in detail to dozens of numbers from 1 to 2 specific zone numbers.
The new zip code will bestow each mailman his own number.
Accordingly, if the zip code is newly implemented, mail such as letters and small packages will be directly assigned to mailman through the automatic classification equipment, which are located in large cities including Seoul.
Clients will get speedier and more accurate service than before, because a postman does not need to sort his own mail any longer.
Therefore, the delivery of mail is estimated to be at least two hours faster than before.
