406 Copyright Violators Disclosed

The prosecution disclosed 406 cases of copyright infringement, including the reprinting of software, medical and language books.
The Seoul District Prosecutor's Office announced on May 11 that it cracked down copyright on violators last month and confined 45 suspects , booked 258 suspects without confinement and 103 suspects are under investigation.
The prosecution booked the heads of computer operating teams of 22 corporations, including 7 companies in top 10 conglomerates such as Cheil Communications Inc., LG Ad Inc. and Hanjin Engineering & Construction Co., that the illegal copy ratio exceed 8 percent.
Ssangyong Engineering showed the highest illegal copy ratio of 33.5 percent.
The prosecutors net also caught a man identified only as Park. According to the prosecution, Park was charged with suspicion of selling copies of mathematics educational software developed by a venture-company LED.
The prosecution said, 'LED invested 800 million won to develop the software but is in financial difficulties due to the illegal copies.'
The prosecution plans to investigate the governmental offices and university towns with the support of 26 experts from the Ministry of Information and Communication.
