SNU Hospital Union Stops Walkout

The trade union of Seoul National University Hospital withdrew from their walkout after dramatically reaching an agreement with the medical authority on May 13.
Accordingly, the hospital resumed normal operations within nine hours.
The union and management agreed not to increase employees' pay this year and to cut their retirement age, currently 58, to 57 from June 2001.
However, the union of the Korea Cancer Center Hospital continued their strike commenced yesterday despite the management's threat that all participants in the strike will face heavy punishment.
Meanwhile the contentious umbrella labor group of those hospital unions, the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, suggested a dialogue with the government during a press conference at Myongdong Cathedral Thursday.
