President Antipathetic on Former President Chun

President Kim Dae Jung commented on the recent revival movement of former President Chun Doo Hwan at a May 14 press conference, 'I certainly won't join hands with the powers of the Fifth Republic nor speak of cooperation nor any dealmaking.'
President Kim added, 'There is no way to curtail their political activities but I don't want to be connected with them.'
Prior to this conference, the president announced that he will bolster the 'Milano Project', a policy to promote the textile industry in the Taegu area, and conclude debate on the Wichon Industrial Area's.
President Kim emphasized at the commencement ceremony for construction of the Kumi National Industrial Park, 'The people's government is doing our best to get rid of regionalism and harmonize relations among citizens. We are establishing a law to prohibit any discrimination or retaliation according to region.'
The president came back to Seoul during the afternoon after concluding the two-day visit to Taegu.
