Paldang Lake Water Getting Worse

The water quality of the Paldang Lake has been getting worse this year.
According to the Ministry of Environment, the water in Paldang Lake during last April recorded 1.9 ppm in terms of biochemical oxygen demand(BOD), which increased considerably from 1.4 ppm last March.
The ministry explained that the deterioration of the water quality stems from the influx of polluted materials into the lake. The influx of polluted materials sharply increased because it rained a lot during last spring.
It also added that a lot of algae grew because the average water temperature of the lake last month rose to 8.6 Centigrade, about twice that of last March.
A spokesperson for Green Korea United said that it is urgent for the government to systematically control the water quality of Paldang Lake.
