Public Officials" Military Service to Be Made Public

The government proclaimed a law forcing public officials and their sons to report their military service to the Military Manpower Administration (MMA) within three months after the law is officially enacted.
The MMA will also investigate military service reported by a public official during each month and make the results public.
Six thousand public officials will be effected by the new law which is schedulded to be enforced as of October.
The public officials include President, Prime minister, members of the National Assembly, military officials higher than major general, senior judges, and other high-ranking public officials.
Some public officials who were discharged from the service will have to explain why they were exempted from military service.
