Metropolitan Residents Get Better Water Supply
The water supply in 19 cities, including Inchon and Suwon City, has improved as part of the fifth step of a four-and-a-half-year-long program of waterwork development, completed on June 4.The Ministry of Construction and Transportation and the Korea Water Resources Corporation has finished the waterwork project, and can now supply the Metropolitan area with 2.2 million more tons of water daily.
This 1.09 trillion won work has raised the supply rate of water in the area from 90 percent to 95 percent.
About 9.8 million residents in cities near Inchon, Pyongtaek and Uijongbu, who previously suffered water shortages due to the population increase caused by the construction of large scale apartment blocks, will benefit.
