Philipino President Meets with Chaebol Leaders

Phillipino President Joseph Estrada, who arrived on June 6, will meet with Korean business leaders on his very first day in Korea, the Federation of Korean Industries (FKI) revealed.
According to the FKI, Estrada will talk with the chairmen of four major chaebols for 20 minutes each at the Hotel Shilla on June 6, after the welcoming luncheon.
It is unusual for a visiting president to maintain such a busy schedule and for the itinerary to include so much contact with business leaders.
150 Phillipino economic delegates are included in welcoming receptions being held by both Samsung and Daewoo to promote mutual cooperation.
A source from the FKI said, 'All four conglomerates want to discuss issues of public spending programs such as power plants with the President. Our group chairmen also have strong interests in investing in the Phillipines.'
