Labor Starts Indefinite Struggle

The leaders of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions(KCTU) and the Federation of Korean Trade Unions(FKTU) launched an indefinite sit-in strike demanding an investigation to get down to the 'bed-rock' of the prosecution's involvement in the 'labor-taming plot'.
Twenty-eight leading members including KCTU's chairman Lee Kap Yong held a press conference Monday at Myongdong Cathedral in Seoul and announced that they will go on a hunger strike until the government conclusively attains the truth about the plot designed to crush labor unions.
They also asked for the immediate release of arrested labor union members together with President Kim Dae Jung's personal apology.
Both federations will execute a one-day partial strike on June 17 saying, 'If the government refuses to admit our request, we will not hesitate to struggle for the ousting of the administration with all the people.'
Moreover, FKTU's chairman, Park In Sang, and 500 union members demonstrated in front of the National Assembly in Yoido, censuring the regime responsible for the labor-suppressing scandal.
