YS Calls Tax Investigation of Newspapers Political Reprisal

Former President Kim Young-sam (YS) denied rumors that a new party organization to spread his political influence is underway in his first exclusive interview with JoongAng Ilbo since leaving the Blue House (Chong Wa Dae).
However, Kim predicted that a huge change will occur following the general election in April 2000 and emphasized his future role at that time.
On current President Kim Dae-jung (DJ)'s purported sludge fund that operated before the presidential election in late 1997, he stated, 'I know all the details on that.'
Regarding the North Korean nuclear crisis, Kim revealed a story saying, 'The United States then decided to deploy bombers around the Yongbyon area with a naval bombardment from warships after bustling its ambassador out of Seoul. I said to Bill Clinton, 'not even a Korean soldier would move for that strategy.'
He also stressed it is a form of political revenge by the government to pick on JoongAng Ilbo and Segye Times under the guise of a tax investigation.
Kim stated he foresaw DJ's power finishing at the end of this year as a matter of fact and hinted at an all-out reprisal offensive in the near future.
