People Pouring into Large Cities Again

Heeding the call for jobs, people are now rushing into large cities, again, as the economic boom echoes across the nation.
The Bureau of Statistics, Tuesday, revealed its demographic shifts, and people who moved in the first quarter of this year reached 2.4 million, which is 16.5 percent more than that of last year's first three months.
The tendency is clearly focused on metropolitan areas as Seoul's metropolitan area marked an influx of 22,000 souls who relocated to the capital area, twice more than 1998's.
Other than Seoul, Yongin in Kyonggi Province had a net gain of 17,000 people to lead the province followed by Sihung and Suwon.
A source from the bureau analyzed, 'Last year, there were not enough jobs due to the economic slump, but as available housing is booming it is easier to move than before and coupled with lots of new jobs this year there is an exodus to larger cities.'
