Kangnam Ring Expressway to be Finished 2005
The construction of the Kangnam Ring Expressway, which when finished in 2005 will connect 34 kilometers of Seoul's southern Kangso and Kangnam districts, will start in 2001.Koh Kun, Seoul's mayor, on Wednesday told president Kim Dae-jung, 'Right now Seoul's network roads in northern areas are all right but southern areas definitely need new expressways as the present system is inadequate and causing habitual gridlock.'
When the new road is complete, it will be able to handle 120,000 vehicles daily, in what is hoped will eventually mitigate the southern area's chronic traffic congestion.
The expressway will also include 10 kilometers of tunnels.
