Airlines Flying High

Korea's airline business is showing signs of flying high again and recovering the altitude of previous times.
According to the Ministry of Construction and Transportation on Thursday, the combined passengers of Korean Air and Asiana, during the first half of this year, totaled 15.44 million, a 15.4 percent increase from the same period of last year. The occupancy now sits at 85.3 percent of the 18.10 million passengers who flew in the first half of 1997.
International passengers, especially, flying the two airliners accounted for 5.17 million, almost at the same level with the first half of 1997.
While Korean Air saw a 3.4 percent increase over last year's fist half, Asiana soared 30.8 percent above the previous year.
